The area of research interests
The Chair of Studies on Integration Processes has been established on 1 January 2015. It consists of one professor, three assistants professor and one assistant lecturer with a doctor's degree. In 2016 the Head of the Chair of Studies on Integration Processes prof. dr hab. Janusz Węc has been awarded with a prestigious EU grant – Jean Monnet Chair for the project titled: EUCRIS: European Union in Crisis: What is Wrong and How to Fix It?
The Chair of Studies on Integration Processes carries out research in the following areas:
- the European Union and the Eurozone regime
- European Union law
- decision-making system in the European Union
- Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defense Policy of the EU
- policies within the EU's area of freedom, security and justice
- the position of national parliaments in the EU
- theory of international relations
- institutionalization of integration processes in the world

- Germany's foreign and security policy
- European policy of Switzerland
- European policy of Poland
- political and party systems of Germany, Austria and Switzerland
- methodology of empirical research
- local government - public policy and system
The academic staff of the Chair of Studies on Integration Processes conduct the courses on three programmes: international relations, national security and political science. The subjects of the lectures and exercises are as follows:

Head of the Chair: prof. Janusz Węc, PhD
Position: professor
Prof. dr hab. Janusz Węc, Full Professor of the humanities in the field of recent world history and international relations. The head of the Chair of Studies on Integration Processes at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In the years 2016-2019, the head of the research and teaching project of the European Commission Jean Monnet Chair titled EUCRIS: European Union in Crisis: What is Wrong and How to Fix It? Honorary Professor Jean Monnet at the Jagiellonian University. Expert for the European Commission Representation in Poland and member of Team Europe. Member of the Historical Commission at PAN (Polish Academy of Sciences), Kraków Branch. Member of the following scientific associations (among others): Internationale Vereinigung für Germanistik, Towarzystwo Instytutu Zachodniego w Poznaniu, Polskie Towarszystwo Studiów Międzynarodowych, Polskie Towarzystwo Studiów Europejskich, Stowarzyszenie Germanistów Polskich, Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne. Author of more than 300 academic papers published in Poland and abroad, including 21 monographs and syntheses, on the political system of European Communities and European Union, European and non-European integration, Polish-German relations, contemporary history of Germany, and also on German political system.

Agnieszka Nitszke, PhD
Position: assistant professor
Doctor of humanities in the field of political science. Assistant professor at the Chair of Studies on Integration Processes at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University. Vice-President of the Kraków branch of Polish Association for European Studies, member of the Polish Association for International Studies. The author of the monograph Zasady ustroju federalnego w państwach niemieckojęzycznych. Studium porównawcze and several academic papers on political parties in Europe and European integration.

Adam Kirpsza, PhD

A graduate in law form the Faculty of Law and Administration JU. Member of the Polish Association for European Studies.
