Biogram

Aleksandra Sojka is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Political Science of the University of Granada in Spain. She holds a PhD (Cum Laude) in Social Sciences awarded by the University of Granada, as well as a Research MA (Cum Laude) from the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands) and an MA (Cum Laude) in International Relations, granted by the University of Lodz (Poland).

Her doctoral dissertation explored the role of political identities as a central element to the attitudes towards European integration in the context of its Eastward enlargement; their content, determinants and consequences for the future of European integration. More generally, her principal research interests include European politics and political sociology of the EU, with a focus on political attitudes towards European integration in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the EU as a whole. She has published several articles and book chapters on the topic in English, Spanish and Polish. Her most recent article "European identity in Southern Europe: A comparative analysis of elites and public opinion perceptions in Spain and Portugal" was published in Revista Española de Ciencia Política in November 2014.

She has been a visiting fellow at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, Italy, as well as at the Mannheimer Zentrum für Europäische Sozialforschung (MZES) at the University of Mannheim, Germany and Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. At the Department of Political Science at the University of Granada, she teaches courses on EU politics and European political systems.
