The European Counter-Terrorism Jean Monnet Research Network (EUCTER) invites to an opening conference on 15-17 December 2020. The kick-off event is dedicated to a review and analysis of various dimensions of contemporary terrorism and counter-terrorism.

EUCTER aims to explore and analyse the development and practice of counter-terrorism cooperation and diplomacy in EU internal and external actions. It intends to contribute to a new understanding of the role of European institutions in EU internal and external action.

The kick-off EUCTER meeting will host distinguished officials and experts in counter-terrorism. Keynote speakers are: Federica Mogherini – former High Representative/Vice President of the European Commission; Sir Julian King - former Commissioner for Security; Michèle Coninsx – UN Assistant Secretary General, Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate, former President of Eurojust; Rob Wainwright - former Executive Director of Europol.

The three-days conference will offer 11 sessions taking up varied aspects of terrorism and counter-terrorism. One of the speakers invited to the conference is Professor Artur Gruszczak, Chair of National Security, who will talk about Counter-terrorism in the EU: The Role of Intelligence Co-operation.
