3rd meeting of the Consortium of Departments of Strategic Studies

On May 17, 2019, Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University held the 3rd meeting of the Consortium of Departments of Strategic Studies. Initiated by three professors, prof. dr. hab. Michał Chorośnicki (Jagiellonian University), prof. dr. hab. Roman Kuźniar (University of Warsaw) and prof. dr. hab. Sebastian Wojciechowski (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań), the series of meetings is exclusive and hosted at alternating locations.

 

This year’s seminar was devoted to three leading topics. The first panel of experts entitled 70th anniversary of NATO – cooling-off period was devoted to the analysis of the organization's condition and its future role and importance in international relations. The discussions on the next panel, the EU against the pressure of power politics, focused on the issues of external and internal conditions for the development of the EU's security capabilities. In the third panel: The dispute over Africa - the policy of the great powers towards Africa, the issues of geostrategic importance of North Africa were addressed.

The debate was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Mach.
