One year has passed since the brutal armed assault of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The Russian aggression constituted a blow to the shaky liberal international order associated with seemingly universal values and principles, such as the rule of law, sovereignty, peace and cooperation. It was also a brutal act of undermining the foundations of the post-Cold War international security system, questioning its logic and revising the mechanisms keeping it in a state of relative balance.
The outbreak of war in Ukraine shook the foundations of the international order and unleashed energy that fuels military action and pushes the prospect of a peaceful end to the war into the distant future. This has significant consequences not only for the direct parties to the conflict, i.e. Russia and Ukraine, but also for the bordering countries, including Poland.
This book contains a collection of short analytical and prognostic articles written by scholars from the Department of National Security, referring to the essential aspects of the war in Ukraine and its various repercussions, in particular the consequences for the security of Poland.
