The Competition for the Student Mobility at the University in Edinburgh [info updated 21.09.2023]

We are announcing the additional round for the Competition for the Student Mobility at the University in Edinburgh, for the summer term 2024. As this is a bilateral faculty agreement, the recruitment is open to all the BA programme Students of the Faculty, who finished the first year of their studies.

The host university exempts the incoming students from fees, yet all the other costs related to mobility must be covered by the applicant.

The minimum conditions for applying is English at B2 level and the GPA at 4,0.

Additional information

The Regulations of the Competition for the Student Mobility at the University of Edinburgh

  1. The competition will be held annually. If there are any spots available after the April recruitment, an additional round will be announced in September – only for the summer term of the upcoming academic year.
  2. The competition is open to all the students of the BA programmes at the Faculty of International and Political Studies, but the exchange programme will be realised within the framework of political science, international relations, and security studies.
  3. The mobilities may be realised during the winter term, the summer term, or throughout the academic year.

Competition Criteria

  1.  Applicants must be fluent in English at least at the B2 level and have a GPA score not lower than 4,0.
  2. Applications are examined by the Faculty Commission, constituted each year following the Dean's guidance. The Commission follows the ranking list prepared by the Bilateral Agreement Coordinator affiliated at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations.
  3. The position on the ranking list is conditioned by the score between 40 and 75 points, where
  • The multiplied GPA (GPA * 10) constitutes 40-50 points.
  1. For the first year of studies, the GPA after the winter session
  2. For the second year of studies, the GPA after the first year of studies
  3. For the third year of studies, the GPA after the second year of studies
  • Student Activity
    1. Active participation in student associations (1-5 points)
    2. Conference papers and presentations (1-2 points)
    3. Academic publications (1-3 points)
    4. Student Council-related activities (1-5 points)
  • Social activity (1-5 points)

  4. Internships
  • Students with fewer chances might obtain additional points (1-5) based on evidence of social scholarships, disabilities, or special educational needs.

There is a possibility to appeal against the Commission Decision within three days after the decision has been communicated.

The Conditions of Exchange

  1. The student bears all the costs associated with mobility.
  2. The University of Edinburgh exempts the student from student fees.
  3. The student who has been granted the mobility is obliged to fulfil all the formalities as constituted by the University of Edinburgh and all connected with the insurance, health-related issues, immigration regimes and legalising their stay.

Credit recognition

The courses realised at the University of Edinburgh are recognised as the integral part of the programme at the Jagiellonian University on the basis of the Learning Agreement and Transcript of Records. The exchange study plan must be agreed and accepted by the relevant Authorities prior to the mobility. In case the student is unable to realise the learning outcomes seen as obligatory within their programme at the Jagiellonian University, it will be necessary to complete these courses at the home university.
