Wojciech J. Tycholiz, PhD

Wojciech J. Tycholiz holds PhD (2022) in Economics from Faculty of Finance and Economics, Wrocław University of Economics and works as an assistant professor in the Institute of Political Science and International Relations at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland. Tycholiz is a co-founder of the Polish Centre of African Studies where he currently serves as the President. He was a visiting scholar, among others, at the University of St Andrews (UK), University of Oslo (Norway), Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal) and L'Università degli Studi di Roma (Italy). In his research, he focuses on development economics of the Sub-Saharan African states, including aspects of economic transformation, capital flows, resource curse, inequality and structural dependency. His work appeared, among others, in African Affairs, Africa Spectrum, African Studies Review, African and Asian Studies, and Third World Quarterly. Wojciech J. Tycholiz conducted field work in Angola, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Namibia, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. Outside of academia, he has worked for the Polish Ministry of International Affairs, has provided consulting services for Polish business and authored several reports on investment and trade opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, including a series of reports published by CEED Institute (funded by Jan Kulczyk).
