Oxford debate: The accession to the Eurozone is beneficial to the Member State - we know the verdict!

On the 15th of May 2017 the Oxford debate took place at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. It was organized by the Chair of Studies on Integration Processes within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair EUCRIS project. The thesis of the debate was the following: The accession to the Eurozone is beneficial to the Member State.

The competition was attended by two teams, each consisting of students of international relations at the JU Institute of Political Science and International Relations. The proposition side defending the thesis was represented by Paulina Gurtat, Mikołaj Sokołowski and Bartłomiej Piekutowski. The opposition side contesting the thesis was composed of Barbara Komorowska, Maciej Pawlik and Jakub Derus. The supervisor of the debate was prof. dr hab. Janusz Węc, the JMC EUCRIS project manager and the Team Europe network expert.
The competition was assessed by the jury consisting of three members: prof. Edward Molendowski (Cracow University of Economics), dr Filip Skawiński (the official from the European Commission Representation in Poland) and dr Agnieszka Nitszke (Jagiellonian University, JMC EUCRIS expert).

The debate was extremely fierce. Finally, the Jury decided by two to one that the proposition team won the debate.
